Today's Lesson From The Art Room: Get Lost In The Details

For the past few days I have found myself getting into a trance-like state while adding lots of small details to the art pieces that I am working on. Adding small dots and dashes of white. Making small circles with a black acrylic paint marker. Layer upon layer. Detail after detail. It has become my form of meditation. A way into that place where your mind goes quiet and you are intensely focused on the present moment and what is right in front of you. Excuse me while I go and get lost in the details :) If you want to see more of the art that I am creating, come follow me on Instagram @michellejoywecksler.Michelle Joy Weckslerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15071140824860593282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3875704.post-1428578488815712392020-01-12T12:47:00.001-07:002020-01-12T14:49:34.981-07:00Happy 2020!!! I Am On Instagram!!!!Happy 2020 to you!!!! It has been a long time since I have posted to my blog and a lot has transpired in that time. One of the most significant shifts for me has been to finally grant myself some space and time to feel into a shift in my identity. To finally begin to truly embrace my identity as an artist. This is an ongoing process for me, but I am happy to say that it is a process that I am fully engaged in and enjoying because it is authentic and aligned deeply with who I am.
One of the things I have had timidity around is sharing my art in a more open way. In the past, I have had days where I have felt brave and have put some of my original work out there. Other days I have felt like hiding in a corner where no one can see me. But I am feeling more courageous now. Especially as 2020 has arrived. Every time I say or hear or read 2020, I think 20/20 - that amazing standard that is set for perfect vision. So for me, 2020 is just that - a year for clarity and vision - around who I am, my goals, my place in this wonderful life.
So, as part of my goal of sharing my art in a more open way in 2020, I decided to join Instagram and start posting images of what I'm working on. So far I have begun to share works in progress or images from the pages of my art journal. Sharing my work publicly is a big step for me in the journey of fully embracing my identity as an artist. If you have any interest in my journey, please feel free to stop by my instagram at michellejoywecksler. I would love to hear from you :) Thank you for helping me be seen and for continuing to be a part of my journey!!!!! Wishing you a 2020 filled with vision and clarity!!!!!Michelle Joy Weckslerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15071140824860593282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3875704.post-10918786969886196382017-11-06T13:27:00.001-07:002017-11-06T13:28:45.257-07:00Magic by MJoyI have created another blog for my raps/poems (www.mjoyrap.blogspot.com), but I will likely continue to post most of them here as well. Halloween is almost here and it's time to put together some cute treat holders for gift giving! I have a tradition of having people over every year to stamp for Halloween. This year I ordered some test tubes off of Amazon and filled them with small jelly beans. We then created these adorable test tube holders (instructions can be found at Splitcoast Stampers). It was fun to pull out some great older Stampin' Up! Halloween stamp sets and papers and put them to good use :) Can't wait to say Happy Halloween with these little gifts!!!!Michelle Joy Weckslerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15071140824860593282noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3875704.post-49429730653165934752017-10-08T15:10:00.000-06:002017-10-08T15:10:13.883-06:00A Bullet A Life by MJoy
Desktop Card Organizer & Notepad Holder! – Stephanie Purvis

As crafters we all probably make a ton of cards. But when it comes to sending out those cards, sometimes we don’t get them out as often as we would like. We have to find the card, an envelope, stamps, address label, and even a pen. Sometimes that simple task takes a lot of effort and causes us to miss sending out a card! Here is a desktop organizer that can hold several types of cards, the envelopes to match them, and a drawer underneath that can contain a pen, stamps and even a few return address labels. This makes it so much more convenient to get those cards out! Everything you need is all in one place – right on top of your desk. This would also make a wonderful gift! Also in this project tutorial is a notepad holder to keep track of birthdays, events, or other notes! I attended a wonderful workshop at the Art Students League of Denver that was a part of the Visiting Artist Series. The workshop was led by artist Xochi Solis who currently has work on exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. She created such a wonderful environment for experimenting and playing with collage! The afternoon session focused on the theme of Identity. This is the collage I worked on...I still am not sure if it is done, but I decided I would share it with you anyway :) I haven't played much with collage and I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a great challenge for me to create a collage a day for 30 days...I will let you know what I decide :)
